Legislative Update
1/27/2025
Friends,
No matter one’s political views, building on the chaos that marked the end of the last session makes it harder to correct our past mistakes and remain focused on crafting a balanced budget that serves all Minnesotans—especially with our increasingly short time frame.
As difficult as it appears right now, there will eventually come a time when the members of the Minnesota House, whether by choice or necessity, will come together in the Chamber to vote on legislation. I hope that time is sooner rather than later.
For now, our path forward starts with the basics, and that means continuing to prioritize the common-sense solutions I hear from you:
- Preventing & Investigating Fraud – Wasted taxpayer dollars limit services to the people in need.
- Accessible Childcare – We can build an environment where families have access and providers thrive.
- Affordable Healthcare – Let’s focus on putting the right pieces in place to drive down the cost of care, increase access, and stabilize our hospitals.
- Direct Care Reimbursements – Our current system of fragmented funding is failing people and providers.
-
Classrooms – repeal costly mandates, modify the K-3 discipline statute, reduce costly agency budgets, and move that funding to classroom instruction and teacher pensions.
- Right-Sizing Government – A balanced, accountable, and transparent government, that’s both responsive and flexible in serving the people.
I’ll make sure to keep you updated on our progress each week. Let’s stay engaged and make a plan to connect —whether it’s at my “Brewing Ideas” event, one-on-one, or at the Capitol.
My next brewing event will be on Saturday, February 1st, 2025, at the Champlin Caribou. I’ll be there at 9:30am and I hope to see you there too.

Have a good day,
